I really like a lot of kinds of pens, but I'm generally a ballpoint person more than a gel pen person...who is sitting next to a huge box of gel pens.

Depends if it's art pencils or just usual number 2 pencil type things. In regards to art pencils, I prefer watercolor colored pencils. For regular everyday use, I tend towards mechanical just because I rarely carry a pencil sharpener with me... though that may change in the not too distant future thanks to those sharpener covers xD
